Having experienced months of delay and being let down by someone who promised everything but ultimately did not produce any concrete plans or a quote I posted the job on Rated People. I received a couple of enquiries but also a phone call from Daniel Scott of Hamwics Landscaping who sounded great and offered to come and look at our gardens. He was the first person who actually quantified roughly how much soil we were looking to remove and the challenges that would pose. We ended up having quite a lot of meetings with Daniel and we finally came to a design and price that worked for all of us. Due to the complexity of getting materials out of the gardens it made it difficult for Daniel to bring the project to our budget, but with a few design alterations including incorporating the existing brick wall into the building, it was possible.
We finally have a start date and work is due to start in a little over two weeks. This is what it looks like now. You can just see the top of the wall at the back of our garden. This wall will be restored and re-pointed and will form the internal wall in our new buildings.
